AMF logistics centre in Fellbach, Germany, during construction

Heating and compressed air systems with Geberit Mapress Therm AMF logistics centre, Fellbach (Germany)

The new logistics centre, covering approximately 4,200 m², features the Geberit Mapress piping system. Its ease of installation, excellent corrosion resistance and cost-effectiveness made it the ideal choice.

A new logistics centre has been built in Fellbach, near Stuttgart, for Andreas Maier Fellbach GmbH & Co KG (AMF), a global manufacturer of specialist solutions for clamping, fastening and locking technology. The new building, which includes an automated high-bay warehouse, dispatch area, offices and break rooms, is heated by a heat pump.

For the heating and compressed air installations, managing director Leon Walter from contracted firm Mergenthaler Zerweck GmbH chose Geberit Mapress Therm for the first time – a stainless-steel system for non-potable water. The system’s quality, easy installation and cost-effectiveness impressed both the managing director and the employees, as did Geberit’s comprehensive service.

The brief Corrosion-resistant, cost-effective and simple to install

When it came to installing the piping for the heating and compressed air systems in the logistics centre, the contracted plumbing company set high standards: it needed to ensure long-term operational safety, be easy to install and offer good value for money. What’s more, the pipes had to be highly resistant to corrosionwithout any additional coatings or protective measures. These factors are key requirements in manyindustrial applications.

With this in mind, the plumbing company opted for a new, yet very familiarpiping system for pressing.

The Geberit solution Geberit Mapress Therm

Plumber Danijel Pupic from Mergenthaler Zerweck GmbH has been familiar with variousGeberit Mapress systemsfor years. He values how easy they are to install, requiring only a few tools, as well as the high level of safety.

Unpressed fittings can be identified immediately thanks to the pressing indicators, which can only be removed after the fittings have been correctly pressed. What’s more, thanks to the special contour seal ring, incorrectly pressed connections leak during pressure tests and are therefore easy to identify.

“It’s also important that the materials are easy to distinguish, so there’s no risk of them being confused with other stainless-steel pipes on site”, emphasises Danijel Pupic. Clear labelling makes work on the building site easier. Geberit Mapress Therm pipes and fittings have an orange marking and non-potable water symbol.

“This is a big advantage, especially when working with less experienced colleagues,” adds the plumber. In addition to Geberit Mapress Therm, AMF also used Geberit Mapress Stainless Steel for the drinking water supply.

A reliable partner throughout all project phases

Geberit supported the project right from the start. For managing director Leon Walter, in-depth consultations were a key factor in the project’s success: “Geberit sales manager Florian Ehm provided excellent support right from our first discussions and the tendering phase.”

The Geberit Mapress Therm stainless-steel system he presented was particularly impressive compared to the piping system originally put out to tender, especially in terms of installation, safety and cost-effectiveness.

At the start of the project, the plumbers received on-site training and were briefed on the plans and how to install the products, both Geberit Mapress Therm and theGeberit PluviaandGeberit Silent-PProof drainage system.

“During the construction phase, we could always turn to Geberit with technical questions”, explains Danijel Pupic, looking pleased.

Geberit Mapress Therm is the go-to choice for new projects

Leon Walter is already planning to use Geberit Mapress Therm in two new projects with outdoor heat pumps. In terms of price, the system isn’t much more expensive than carbon steel, but its material composition ensures very high operational safety for specific requirements.

“This offers clear benefits for both our customers and us”, he concludes.
