150 years of Geberit Our Success Story

Gebert Family

The history of Geberit dates back to 1874, with a one-man business in the old town of Rapperswil, Switzerland. About 30 years later, company founder Albert Gebert developed a lead-lined wooden cistern. The company gained further momentum with the revolutionary invention of the first synthetic cassette in 1952, followed by the built-in cassette in 1964.

What started as a modest family-run business has since emerged as the European market leader in plumbing products. Our innovative, high-quality products continue to set new standards – in the past, present and future.
