A roof terrace for any occasion The Ark, Pune (IN)

The Ark in Pune claims to offer the world’s largest rooftop terrace. But the investors are also pulling out all the stops with the luxurious living space in the five towers. Geberit is making a decisive contribution to this.

The Ark in the Indian metropolis of Pune boasts a superlative: the world’s largest rooftop terrace is said to span five of the six towers in the building complex. Just over 11,000 square metres of space featuring pools, an outdoor fitness area, a jogging track, a playground, a Zen garden, a restaurant and a bar. And all this with a breathtaking panorama of Pune and the Sahyadri Mountains on the horizon.

The exclusive apartments in the five high-rise buildings also leave nothing to be desired. The highest standard of finish, magnificent views, spacious living areas – and all in a central location in a business district of the metropolis.

Shaftless building

Geberit products make a significant contribution to the advantages of The Ark. Among other things, with a first in India. “The Ark is India’s first building without a drainage shaft. This means that the pipes are located directly behind the drywall cladding,” says Rohan Jain, Sales Manager at Geberit in Pune.

This works because the developers opted for Geberit SuperTube – a drainage system for high-rise buildings that combines drainage and ventilation pipes into a single pipe thanks to clever water flow management.

A building without a shaft means more living space – which benefits both investors and residents and creates creative freedom for the architects.

Open to innovation

“For the investors, this was a risk. There was no track record,” Rohan Jain points out. But as a university city, Pune is open to innovation. Moreover, Geberit carries considerable weight, particularly in higher education institutions, thanks to its technical expertise.

The Geberit SuperTube system celebrated its world premiere here: the Amanora Tower, some five kilometres away, was the very first SuperTube project at all. And a local college even houses a demonstration tower featuring the system for study purposes.

For this reason, but also thanks to positive experiences with the PE drainage system from previous projects, the investors placed their trust in Geberit’s expertise. And when they did, they went all out: they also opted for Sigma concealed cisterns, including the high-quality Sigma50 actuator plate, and for CleanLine shower channels.
