Bathroom upgrade without hassle Family home in Wernetshausen (CH)

The Wildbrett family’s bathroom renovation in Wernetshausen (CH) had to be done quickly. During their two-week vacation, the bathroom was to be completely renovated – and that’s exactly what happened: thanks to a well-coordinated team of craftsmen and clever Geberit products, a modern feel-good space was created in record time.

The bathroom is cramped, the flush water leaks, the lighting is poor and harsh... Old bathrooms may have their charm, but in terms of comfort and functionality, they are often simply – old. This was also the case for Tobias Wildbrett and his family when they moved into their home in Wernetshausen (CH) two years ago.

Bathroom renovation without new wall tiles

“We deliberately renovated the house from the early 1980s with a light touch and had originally planned to leave the bathrooms as they were,” says Tobias Wildbrett. Time and costs were an issue, and the family also liked the old blue tiles.

But the installations were no longer functional, the tiled shower was a hassle to clean, and the blue floor made the room feel gloomy. So the Wildbretts decided to renovate the bathroom after all – and went on holiday for two weeks while the work was being done.

Simple renovation without dust and noise

The old concealed cistern was replaced by the Geberit Monolith sanitary module. This slim unit combines the flush technology, water connections, and discharge into one elegant module, and can be installed onto existing connections without extensive structural work – and without opening up the wall.

Geberit Monolith is ideal for quick and clean renovations. Available in various materials and colours such as white, black, sand, lava and mint, or in high-quality stone and metal finishes. The Plus version offers optional extras such as integrated LED lighting and odor extraction.

For Tobias Wildbrett and his wife Manuela Weibel, the decision was also a visual one: “The Monolith is almost a design classic, we think it's really beautiful – and the integrated odour extraction and LED lighting of the Plus version are top.“

Modern bathroom with practical features

The Monolith is compatible with all standard WC ceramics; at the Wildbretts’ home, it is paired with a Geberit AquaClean Sela shower toilet. “I know and appreciate the benefits of water cleaning from Asia, so it was clear to us that we wanted a shower toilet in our new home.”

For perfect lighting, the Geberit ONE mirror cabinet with ComfortLight was installed. “I love being able to control everything via the app,” adds Tobias Wildbrett.

Would the homeowner do anything differently with the knowledge he has today? “No.“ It was a good decision to put the entire organisation and implementation in professional hands. Tobias Wildbrett laughs: “Money well spent. There are enough stories about renovation mishaps.“
