Better customer experience in public toilets FMZ Imst shopping centre, Austria

The FMZ cinema and shopping centre in Imst features a variety of shops, a multiplex cinema and several restaurants. In 2023, the sanitary installations were fully refurbished to modernise both design and functionality, delivering a top-tier experience for visitors.

The modern WC suite was designed to eliminate the need for doors to the men’s and ladies’ areas. It also includes seating areas and lockers.

All sanitary appliances are connected with Geberit Connect, allowing for centralised control and reading out of device data. This allows cleaning staff and technical building systems to monitor usage patterns in real time and determine maintenance needs.

The collected data will also help operators make more informed decisions when designing future sanitary installations.

The brief Clean WCs – satisfied customers

The operator’s main focus is on delivering a positive customer experience in its public WC suites. Cleanliness and reliable functionality of the sanitary appliances play a crucial role here, which is why cleaning schedules are now demand-driven and technical building systems can address issues as they arise.

FMZ took the renovation as an opportunity to upgrade the design of the facilities and incorporate the latest technology. The idea of connecting sanitary appliances with Geberit Connect ticked all the boxes was implemented in the new facilities.

In addition to Geberit Connect, the system is complemented by networked soap and paper towel dispensers.

The Geberit solution Optimising processes with Geberit Connect

All sanitary appliances are networked and connected to a central data transmission interface, the Geberit Gateway, which is located in the control room.

Control via the Geberit Control app

The individual sanitary appliances can be centrally controlled via the gateway using the Geberit Control app. Facility management, technical building systems and cleaning staff can easily and intuitively operate individual sanitary appliances via the app, accessing different functions as needed.

Optimised cleaning cycles

The collected data allows the cleaning company to adjust and optimise cleaning schedules based on actual usage and demand.

Seamless operation

In the event of a malfunction, technical building systems receive an automatic email notification, allowing them to respond promptly and resolve issues quickly.

Use of data for new projects

Management analyses usage data to monitor facility utilisation and improve future project planning.
